A Gift Which Can Change Many Lives!

2011-04-06 14:19 (comments: 0)

Seth Godin describes in his book “Linchpin” how many ordinary people become special by using their skills and abilities to make gifts. And not just the typical gifts packed in pretty wrapping paper that are given for the typical gift-giving occasions. These people give gifts in form of attention, courtesy, tips and advice, beautiful music, films or pictures or by sharing their knowledge at no charge.

The Internet is full of such free gifts and we often don’t even realize how many people we can reach via Internet or how many lives we can change. For example, these newsletters are my gift to you. I don’t expect anything in return. I write because I enjoy doing it and because I find it very rewarding that I can encourage, inspire or comfort people through my newsletters. I enjoy receiving direct feedback and I am pleased when my Readers post their comments on my blog. I am always surprised and grateful whenever people approach me and tell me that they read my newsletters and what they think about them.

We underestimate our impact on the world! Our every word or action has the potential to change somebody’s life, whether we realize it or not. Just recently I have spoken to one of my Readers about one of my newsletters (“The Sure Way To Appreciation, Bonding and Loyalty”). She forwarded this newsletter to a friend who was having marriage problems at the time.  After reading the newsletter this friend put my advice into practice and told his wife stories which had always bound them together. He began rediscovering and reviving the things they had in common and before they both knew they found their way back to their love.

These two people run a company together and also at work they have been deliberately working on building up bonding and loyalty by applying the tips from my newsletter. This way more people are beeing positively influenced even though they don’t know my newsletters! Isn’t it great?

So when next time you smile at somebody or help somebody, when you say or do something to help without expecting anything in return, you might be making a gift much greater that you realize. Just be yourself and generously give to the others what you enjoy doing – and change the world!

Perhaps you also know somebody who could benefit from these newsletters?

Anything that has real and lasting value is always a gift from within.

Franz Kafka

We are all born with wonderful gifts. We use these gifts to express ourselves, to amuse, to strengthen, and to communicate. We begin as children to explore and develop our talents, often unaware that we are unique, that not everyone can do what we're doing!

Lynn Johnston

The most precious gift we can offer others is our presence. When mindfulness embraces those we love, they will bloom like flowers.
