„Es braucht zu allem ein entschliessen, selbst zum geniessen“

( Eduard von Bauernfeld  1802 – 1890)

… this german quote sais: It needs a decision for everything, even to enjoy …

This quote is interesting from two points of view. First of all it makes clear to us that we have the choice to experience more pleasure and have more quality time if we only resolve to do this.

The beginning of a New Year is a perfect moment for this!

If we make a clear decision about how we are going to enjoy life better, if we make up our mind when and how to make time for pleasures in life and how much time are we going to spend on them, it will be possible to put our intention into action. However, if we only wish for a change and simply hope that it will somehow work out, other, more urgent appointments and activities will get in the way and will demand our attention. I am sure many of you know what I mean.

On the other hand, if you make a clear decision to regularly read a good book, to have a romantic dinner with your spouse, or simply to spend more time in the nature, then it will take place!

What difference does it make then to take a decision? A decision is a tangible thing. It is a resolution to do something without questioning it anymore. The questioning and doubts are over, now it’s time for action. A genuine decision leaves no other options; it is in a way final.  Unfortunately many people commit themselves to do something in only 99% instead of 100%.

99% means struggle – 100% means peace!

When you don’t make up your mind completely you will constantly struggle with your inner voice or with the opinions of others. Should I, or should I not? Such indecision will distract you and will unnecessarily cost you a lot of energy. Not to mention the loss of self-confidence when you act against your own decisions! However, when you make up your mind and commit yourself in 100%, everything gets simple. You do what needs to be done and don’t question anything anymore. 100% commitment guarantees focus and peace of mind!

This brings us to another aspect of the above quote. If you want to achieve new goals this year in your job, relationship or finances, you will have to make sure you have taken clear decisions.

To determine this, you can ask yourself these questions:

  • Is my goal defined in clear terms?
  • Am I emotionally involved? (Do I feel a strong desire to reach my goal?)
  • Have I got a thorough action plan or do I at least see clearly the first steps that need to be taken?
  • Have I committed myself 100% to do this without “if” and “but”? (Am I doing everything that is necessary to reach my goal?)

I’m working on my plan for 2011 and I will let you know about my 100% resolutions for this year! Join me and leave the abeyance and indecision behind!

I wish you, and myself, a year which will exceed our wishes and expectations!

The first step to getting the things you want out of life is this: Decide what you want.

An executive is a person who always decides; sometimes he decides correctly, but he always decides.

John H. Patterson

It's not what's happening to you now or what has happened in your past that determines who you become. Rather, it's your decisions about what to focus on, what things mean to you, and what you're going to do about them that will determine your ultimate destiny.

Anthony Robbins
