Reflections of the Week

Do You Function or Do You Live?

2011-04-28 20:11 (comments: 0)

Take a moment and reflect on the last few days or weeks. Have you been  functioning well? Have you successfully run your errands and completed all your tasks conscientiously, diligently and… perhaps also under a lot of stress? Or have you actually lived and still achieved a lot?

What makes the difference between functioning and living?

How often have you laughed out loud recently? How many moments have you consciously enjoyed? How often have you socialized with people in your life? How alive and fulfilled have you felt recently? An increasing number of my clients seem to be striving for more lightness in their life.  I often ask myself whether they are looking for lightness or rather the feeling of liveliness.

When we experience the world with all our senses we are present, more aware and we live our life in a richer and more wholesome way. Little is needed for this to happen! You don’t have to take a holiday, quit your job or to turn your world on its head. All you need is the determination to live a fuller life and to have a simple plan:

  1. What or who makes you laugh?
Plan more of it, or more of these people, in your life.
  2. What do you enjoy doing?
In the moment when you decide to lead a more enjoyable life, you start to see it very clearly! (Right now I am enjoying the singing of the birds outside my window).

  3. Which people would you like to give more attention in order to build a more open and closer relationship?
How could you open up more?

Believe me, even the smallest steps can change a lot! By doing so you will not only enrich your own life but you will also influence your environment, your team and your family.

Don’t only function; go through the day with passion and celebrate life!

Carpe diem!
