Autumn is here again. With shorter days, cold weather and long periods of darkness people often complain about lack of energy or the feeling of listlessness. How does fall affect your energy levels?
Do you wake up full of energy and are you ready to begin your day with vigor and enthusiasm? If not, don’t just blame it on the weather or the fall season. Instead, adopt a proactive attitude and have fun by developing your own energy-boosting rituals which will put you firmly back in the driving seat.
What are rituals and what effect do they have on us? Wikipedia defines “ritual” as: “…a set of repeated actions, performed mainly for their symbolic value. “This means that you need an activity that you can repeat easily and that you need to give it a meaning relevant to you. The meaning in this case is to activate your inner reservoir of energy.
Let me illustrate this idea with some practical examples:
Every morning when I take a shower I turn loud music on and I sing along to my heart’s content (my family has to somehow put up with it). This ritual energizes me and by the time I step out of my shower I’m in a good mood and I’m ready to start another great day. If music is your thing, use its power to boost your energy!
One of my clients begins her day with the five tibetans. She starts her day in a special way – that makes her day a special day (Activity and Purpose).
A friend of mine has written down a set of inspiring mantras which motivate him and assure him that he will reach his goals and which infuse him with the necessary energy. A mantra could be a simple sentence like this: “I’m filled with energy and I’m ready to take advantage of every opportunity coming my way today”. Or: “It is up to me to have a happy day and I’m ready to create it”. Choose such words and goals that are important to you, and every day focus your energy anew on them.
Allow your creativity to flow freely and develop your own energy-boosting ritual. And once you have your ritual, please share your idea here on our blog and inspire us, too
