Reflections of the Week

Instinctively Playful

2010-03-30 20:57 (comments: 0)

Spring has now finally arrived here in Europe. Everyone seems to be friendlier, funnier and more active. Do you know that as well - to suddenly again feel like creating a little hoax? To trick someone in a friendly way or just to behave a little like a juvenile? These small friendly tricks and jokes make life happier and bring that certain lightness which is often missing in our daily life. An unexpected water fight in the garden with the arrival of the first warm days, or a tickle attack in bed upon waking up, makes us laugh heartily. In turn this loosens us physically and emotionally, we release hormones which make us happy, we release stress and demonstratively cultivate our well being. Also in the office, there are a number of tricks to play which can release a wave of positive energy. An important rule in doing so is that it should be fair and everyone should have fun with it. A couple of ideas come to mind thinking about it:

  • Having a short race to the car after work
  • A short round of basketball with the waste bin
  • Giving chocolate for solving a riddle
  • The good old „post-It“ message that create a smile or chuckle

I challenge you today in a playful way to become creative and to tackle your own life more playfully – you will see how your relationships become livelier, how the family life is enriched and how daily life in the office or at work become more fun again. Then share your good ideas and success stories, or thoughts, with all of us in the Blog … this is going to be fun!!!

Quotes

If a man insisted always on being serious, and never allowed himself a bit of fun and relaxation, he would go mad or become unstable without knowing it.

Herodotus (484 BC - 430 BC)

May your walls know joy; May every room hold laughter and every window open to great possibility.

Maryanne Radmacher-Hershey

Sometimes the laughter in mothering is the recognition of the ironies and absurdities. Sometime, though, it's just pure, unthinking delight.

Barbara Schapiro
