The C-O-A Method to More Success

2014-09-05 18:41 (comments: 0)

I have returned from my vacations and all I hear are complaints about the bad weather, how demotivated people are or how they struggle with maintaining their focus. Let’s do something against it!

A very effective way to deal with this is the C-O-A method:

Clarity – Ownership – Action

The clearer you can see where you want to go and why, the easier it is to take the first step. Once you abandon the role of a victim (I have to do it, I have no choice, I'd rather do something else ...) you will have to admit that you have a choice. It will be clear that you can consider the consequences and take a decision and by doing so you can take personal responsibility for your own actions or for doing nothing. When this happens, the motivation usually comes back naturally.

Many people will try avoiding taking decisions by saying things like: ... but my boss asked ... I must earn money ... the market is bad, etc., but the truth is that we always have a choice between the lesser evil or the most courageous step.

And once we take a decision, we should also accept the responsibility.
When we have clarity and we decide to take an independent decision, the action usually follows automatically. It is the logical next step, and if it does not come automatically, for example because we are still only half-committed, then the self-management steps in.
What can kick me off? Is now the right time, because every moment is as good as any other? Do I make it happen when I put it in my calendar? Or do I need someone who is friendly and determined and who will give me a friendly kick in the pants when I need it?

You know yourself best and you can decide how to gear yourself up for your best performance. Once you begin, it is easy to continue as long as you follow the C-O-A method.

Starting with the next letter in 2 weeks I will be writing about different strategies, with clear instructions how to apply them, so that you can best use the next four months to make this year as successful as possible, and to pave the way for the successful next year.

If we have enough interested people, I will offer an online meeting on a weekday at lunchtime between 12-13 clock to discuss and deepen the topics after each blog post.
Please let me know if you want to participate and we will discuss the details and the logistics.

I look forward to assisting you in your way to success in my blog and in the online meetings!

The only lifelong, reliable motivations are those that come from within, and one of the strongest of those is the joy and pride that grow from knowing that you've just done something as well as you can do it.

Clarity of mind means clarity of passion, too; this is why a great and clear mind loves ardently and sees distinctly what it loves.

Blaise Pascal

To think about your life is to create it. You have to take ownership of where you are right now and know where you want to go before you can get there. Keep collecting evidence for your success. You can believe it, and you can be it.
