Reflections of the Week

This is your Chance!

2011-09-23 13:48 (comments: 0)

Have you also thought 265 days ago about what you wanted to achieve in year 2011? Perhaps you’ve set up goals for this year or decided to change some things or simply wondered what this year was going to mean to you. Some people decide rather what they don’t want to do in a new year, e.g. not to work overtime, not to eat junk food, not to watch too much TV or not to complain. The others do the opposite: they focus on what they want to achieve, e.g. to do more sports, to get better at networking or to be more environment-friendly. Which group do you belong to?

Whether you are more the motivating or more the limiting type, whether you write down your New Year’s resolutions or whether you only outline a general action plan, take a moment now to run an inventory of your achievements so far. Which of your New Year’s resolutions have you completed and which have you given up on?

The year goes by so fast, and the daily life engages us so intensely, that we often reflect only at the end of the year on the things which we haven’t been able to do or the wishes that we have failed to fulfill. It is demotivating and it takes our energy and our self-confidence away!

Here is your chance! Starting today, you are going to have another 100 days to achieve your outstanding milestones for this year! Run a short inventory of your remaining goals. Select some important aims or changes which you would like to achieve this year so that on the coming New Year’s Eve you can be proud of your achievements!

Find the support if you need it! Do you have a friend who shares your goals? Perhaps you could motivate and support each other? Do you have a network of people who could motivate you to action and who could help you stop procrastinating? Perhaps it’s enough for you to have a clearly outlined action plan or a frequent reminder in your Outlook or on your mobile phone? Or perhaps you need a clearly defined reward waiting for you when you achieve your goals?

It’s all up to you now!
Decide: 1) what you want to achieve, 2) why is it important to you (and if you can’t define this, then reconsider this particular goal because clearly the motivation is missing here) and 3) make a clear action plan. Naturally, as your coach I will be happy to stand by your side if you need professional support!

There are still 100 days left until the end of this year. You can use them to change things, or they will be gone faster than you can realize. This is your chance!

It's choice - not chance - that determines your destiny.

Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right.

Now there are more overweight people in America than average-weight people. So overweight people are now average. Which means you've met your New Year's resolution.
