Thoughts like “I have to keep the peace” or “It’s all on me” can put quite a lot of weight on your shoulders.
By taking on the responsibility for other people’s feelings and wellbeing, you get to carry a very heavy burden. Becoming aware that you are living a rule like this is the first step to put the burden down. A very helpful second step is to share the burden by talking about it and expressing what you need.
