Online Workshop Series

This Fall/Winter we offer a series of open online workshops called Embracing Life. Under this umbrella we will take a look at some of the challenges and struggles that life throws at you and how you can overcome (and even embrace) them!

How to go from Shaming to Claiming - owning and appreciating your own body               20th Jan - 3rd Feb 2021, Wednesdays 7pm to 8.30 pm

How to go from Fighting to Forgiving - making your relationships more loving                   24th Mar - 7th Apr 2021, Wednesdays 7pm to 8.30 pm

Having Loved and Lost - dealing with the loss of a loved one (partner, parent, child...)     14th Apr - 28th Apr 2021, Wednesdays 7pm to 8.30 pm

Dive into your inner world and become amazed by your own power and possibilities! During these workshops, Desiree and Marjan will help you become aware of thought patterns, beliefs and old conditionings that hold you back: fixed ideas you have about your body and health, loss, relationships, parenting etc. which drive your behaviour and actions. You will learn to dissolve these inhibiting thoughts and convictions, encounter new ways to approach life and discover concrete steps that really take you where you want to go!

You are not what you think

You are not what you think, yet your thoughts can have enormous power over you when you start to believe them. Whether you believe empowering or disempowering thoughts, your mind will show you lots of examples to support your belief. When the disempowering thoughts become your identity – the downward spiral is starting!

You become what you do

Once identified with the negative thoughts, your behaviour and actions follow the negative track. You adopt negative behaviour, take negative actions and others will respond to it negatively, which reinforces your belief. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. As body and mind are tightly connected, they influence each other all the time.

You can claim control

Understanding the dynamic between thoughts, feelings and actions is the starting point of change. Start learning how you can investigate and change your thoughts and behaviour and you will quickly understand that life is loving and kind. How many times a day do you look in the mirror and find yourself to be your own worst enemy? All you see is what is not there: your legs are not thin enough or long enough, your skin is not unblemished, your hair is not long enough, curly enough or straight enough, etc. etc. The list is endless. With those observations come feelings of unworthiness, shyness, blame and shame. Everybody around you seems to have what you lack.

As a result you cover yourself up or wear 'favourable' clothes instead of the clothes that you adore. Maybe you become obsessed with food and exercise, counting calories, steps and ways of transport. Unawares you might even withdraw from life, not doing the things that you love to do.

In this online workshop you will go on a gentle journey within, looking at the thoughts, discussions and beliefs that are filling your head. With the help of The Work of Byron Katie you learn how to find peace of mind and pleasure in your body. With that, your body will become your loyal companion again ensuring the fun to come back into your life.

Practical details

From Shaming to Claiming takes place on 3 Wednesdays starting January 20th, 2021 and finishing February 3rd. Each of the 3 sessions starts at 19:00 hrs and finishes at 20.30 hrs. The maximum number of participants is 12 to ensure an intimate setting. The sessions are held via Microsoft Teams. A phone or computer is all you need to participate.

 

The complete workshop costs € 150.

How often are you distracted or lying awake in bed because you had a fight with someone? It interferes with your life and takes your attention hostage. “He does not listen …, she should not have done that …, I can’t believe they …” Your thoughts run wild and the story keeps growing on you. Even when these people are not around you, they are in your mind and mess with your peace ….

The way we normally deal with these differences of opinion is by pushing back harder, explaining ourselves ever clearer and finding all kinds of reasons why we are right and the other is wrong. Sounds familiar? Wouldn't it be wonderful to find another way? To meet the other from a place of love and kindness?

In this online workshop you will go on a gentle journey within, looking at the thoughts, discussions and beliefs that are filling your head. With the help of The Work of Byron Katie you learn how to find peace of mind and feel connected to the people around you again. With that, the joy of partnership finds a new place in your heart.

Having Loved and Lost 

dealing with the loss of a loved one (partner, parent, child...)

 

One day your life was colorful and bright and the next day it all turned dark. You have lost someone you love to death, divorce or disease and now your life seems totally pointless. You hear about the stages of grieving and in the beginning you get a lot of support from people around you. Over time others seem to go back to normal while you are wondering what normal is and whether you'll ever get back to anything that can be called normal.

The process of grieving is very personal, and everyone is going through it in their own way and in their own time. You might feel physical reactions like tears, pain, weight gain (or loss) or insomnia and emotional reactions like depression, numbness or great anger.

In this online workshop you will go on a gentle journey within, looking at the thoughts, discussions and beliefs that are filling your head. With the help of The Work of Byron Katie you learn how to find peace of mind and peace in your heart again. With that, your body will follow and colors will come back into your life.

Practical details

Having Loved and Lost takes place on 3 Wednesdays starting April 14th and finishing April 28th 2021. Each of the 3 sessions starts at 19:00 hrs and finishes at 20.30 hrs. The maximum number of participants is 12 to ensure an intimate setting. The sessions are held via Microsoft Teams. A phone or computer is all you need to participate.

 

The complete workshop costs € 150.
